Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will fiber-optics increase data transmission speed?
Fiber-optic networks operate at extremely high speed and provide the same speed for inbound transmission as outbound. Copper systems are sometimes slower with outbound data communication due to the asymmetrical characteristics of copper.
  • Can fiber-optics be expanded to accommodate growth or change of our needs?
Fiber-optics provides virtually unlimited bandwidth and can provide for today as well as future expansion.
Changes can literally be initiated in minutes with a phone call without additional equipment installation.
  • Does fiber-optics deliver comparable quality versus copper?
Signal quality is improved versus copper due to the reduction in interference and the nature of the transmission.
  • Will we need new phone equipment?
No. Phone upgrades are available but not required. The only piece of equipment which may possibly be required is the conversion box which provides conversion from fiber to Ethernet.
  • What options are available with fiber-optics?
Fiber-optics can provide a variety of options including enhanced and expanded phone and internet service as well as television.
  • With all the advantages of fiber-optics, how much more does the service cost?
Your fiber-optic network will cost less than your current services for a much better product.
  • Will I have a billing from the phone company or a long distance carrier along with my FiberNet service billing?
No. One bill from FiberNet includes everything.
  • If service is required where does it com from and how long does it take?
Service is a local and FiberNet responds within 4 hours.
  • How long will it take for installation?
    Usually two weeks or less.
  • What equipment will be needed and how much will it cost?
FiberNet can conduct a site survey or can access current phone bill to determine what equipment will be needed as well as the cost of the enhanced service. Normal equipment needs are minimal unless the customer chooses to upgrade phone service.
